I first started writing and recording music in my bedroom when I
was a teenager. Sadly, I never much progressed beyond that point from
a technical standpoint. I did, however, solidify my taste in music,
which boiled down to the fact that I liked best the music I could
most easily conceive of playing myself, and therefore could, in some
way, understand. I still think “Hang On Sloopy” is the
greatest song ever written, and while I didn't write it, I think of
it as my signature song, if only because I felt I could sing it convincingly
at, say, age 17. Since then I have derived great pleasure from the
process of putting a song together from start to finish, and am often
suprised at the ways a song will turned out different from what you
intended or expected. Over the years I developed a circle of musical
friends who were also into recording, and it was from those recordings
that Lost Cat Records got its start. Since then we've evolved to represent
some truly talented bands and songwriters, but it's always good to
go back to your roots from time to time. Here, then, is where it all
